FAQ

What is SEMA PAC?

By law, SEMA is not allowed to use association funds to impact the electoral process. That’s where the individually funded SEMA PAC comes in. It allows SEMA members to pool their personal resources to make campaign contributions to candidates and lawmakers that support our industry.

Supporting lawmakers in Washington, D.C.

There is a saying in the nation’s capital, “if you aren’t at the table, then you’re on the menu.” The reality is there’s a lot going on there that impacts our way of life.  We cannot afford to let others determine the future of the automotive aftermarket industry. The 2024 election will be here before we know it. It is our duty to elect a Congress that is on our side. Their decisions will affect our businesses for years to come. A robust SEMA PAC is exactly what we need to accomplish these goals.

What issues is SEMA PAC working on?

With each passing day, the role of SEMA PAC becomes more important than ever. Standing up for grassroots racing, ensuring data access, pursuing a pro-growth manufacturing and job creation agenda, creating access to small business loans and credit, preventing higher ethanol content in gasoline, and fighting counterfeit products.  These are just a few of the issues facing SEMA members. In the next 3-5 years, SEMA anticipates the following issues will be of critical importance:

  • Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)
  • Data access
  • DMCA and copyright ownership
  • EPA enforcement
  • Land use
  • Trade and tariffs
  • Warranty issues
  • ZEV mandates
